Western Express
Western Express: Not Just Any Other Carrier
With so many transportation carriers out there, sometimes it is hard to tell them apart. Finding a new carrier can be somewhat like trying to replace a favorite pair of tennis shoes. You have to find the right fit. Sure, the size has to be right in order for them to function, but the shoes also have to be comfortable enough for you to wear for miles. The same is true for your new carrier. You don’t just need a truck to drive. You want to find a comfortable home where you can build your career. You’ve got a lot of miles to go and you don’t want just any other carrier.
What makes a carrier stand out? Many trucking companies offer great compensation per mile, but they don’t give you the mileage to enable you to make a good living. At Western Express, however, drivers are required to log an average of 2,700 miles per week. Drivers become eligible for benefits on the first day of the month after 30 days of continuous service. When you drive with Western Express, you know you will be earning the miles and money that will give you a stable, successful career.
Another way Western Express makes drivers’ jobs easier is through orientation and training. The company knows most drivers would rather be behind the wheel than in a classroom, so they created a way to shorten the duration of orientation without skipping important content. Unlike the standard two to four day orientation, Western Express’ one-day orientation can make drivers ready for the road in one day. This orientation is offered five days a week at the Nashville terminal.
Most carriers try to keep their equipment in good shape by replacing bits and pieces as time goes by. By June 1, 2005, Western Express will replace their entire fleet of nearly 1400 tractors with new equipment, which will be split between Volvo and Freightliner condos. Now that’s comfort!
In addition to giving you the miles and training you need to make a career for yourself, Western Express has other rewards for drivers. There is a lot more than the standard benefits package. The Nashville terminal serves drivers a free hot lunch on weekdays and free breakfast on Saturdays. Many drivers can be home weekends for their 34 hour re-set, depending on where they live. Also, Western Express gives drivers one day off for every week they are out. One week of vacation is available after one year with the company and two weeks are available after two years. The company offers a $200 weekly advance after a driver is loaded and also offers flatbed training to any interested drivers. A free rider program and free prepass and EZ pass are also offered.
If you are a driver looking for a company that fits you like a comfortable pair of shoes, try Western Express. The company offers a secure place where you can feel at home for miles and miles. Western Express delivers the mileage, training, equipment, and benefits a driver needs to succeed. Come learn for yourself that Western isn’t just any other carrier.
