Schneider Achieves Coveted Procter & Gamble Supplier Excellence Award
High Level of Service Puts Schneider Among the Top 1% of P&G's 80,000-Member Network
GREEN BAY, Wis. - January 21, 2008 - Schneider National, a leading provider of transportation, intermodal and logistics services, is among an elite group of 61 suppliers (out of an 80,000-strong network) to receive top honors at the Procter & Gamble supplier conference in mid-October in Cincinnati. Schneider received P&G's inaugural Excellence Award for consistently providing a high level of service to the multinational manufacturer.
"Procter and Gamble has such an extensive network of suppliers that having the Schneider name rise to the top truly is a great honor," said Steve Matheys, executive vice president of global commercial services at Schneider National. "Safe, hard-working drivers and strategic, dedicated customer service teams are at the heart of awards like this. We're proud to work with a company like Procter & Gamble to enhance the standard of living around the world."
Procter & Gamble was Schneider's first interstate client and has been a customer for 50 years. Today its service needs span multiple lines of business, including intermodal, dedicated, truckload and drop lot specialty services. Schneider helps Procter & Gamble deliver its products to consumers across the globe--focusing on China and North America.
"Our suppliers are critical partners in helping us bring innovation to life, manage our costs and improve productivity," said Keith Harrison, Procter & Gamble's global product supply officer. "With the current global economic uncertainty, strong relationships with suppliers are more important than ever to achieving P&G's sustainability goals and supporting the company's growth today and going forward."
In 2008, Schneider proved an especially valuable advocate by working with Procter & Gamble to further its sustainability initiatives by participating in the global Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent, not-for-profit international organization aiming to create a lasting relationship between shareholders and corporations regarding the implications for shareholder value and commercial operations presented by climate change. The information Schneider provided to Procter & Gamble for the CDP's survey helps them measure their carbon footprint and identify ways to create a greener supply chain.
