Con-way Truckload Driver Reaches Three-Million-Mile Mark

Herb Mitchell Becomes the Ninth Driver in Company History to Reach the
Milestone

JOPLIN, Mo. - Dec. 19, 2008 - Con-way Truckload, a full-truckload carrier
and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that company
driver Herb Mitchell has reached the elite career milestone of three million
miles of safe driving. Mitchell is the ninth Con-way Truckload driver in the
57-year history of the company to achieve that record.

"Herb Mitchell has now safely driven the equivalent of 12 trips from the
Earth to the moon for Con-way Truckload, and that is a remarkable
accomplishment that can only be achieved through a lifelong commitment to

A professional truck driver since 1962, Mitchell joined Con-way Truckload in
1981 and recently reached the three-million-mile mark. He now typically
drives local and trailer-recovery runs.

Mitchell currently lives in Joplin with his wife, Lynda. In his spare time,
he enjoys camping, fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle.
