Con-way Truckload Honors Drivers of the Month
for July, August and September
Eighteen Drivers are Recognized for Professionalism, Safety and Performance
JOPLIN, Mo. — Oct. 28, 2008 — Con-way Truckload, a full-truckload carrier
and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced its monthly
driver award recipients for July, August and September 2008:
July
• Company Driver of the Month: Jerry West was a professional driver for more
than 15 years and joined Con-way Truckload in 1993. In 2003, Jerry was named
Company Driver of the Year. Jerry drove more than 1.5 million miles for
Con-way before retiring in July. He resides in Leakey, Texas, with his wife
and enjoys fishing, flying planes and playing golf.
• Company Team of the Month: Robert Melendez and Joe Melendez have been
driving professionally for 13 and 10 years, respectively. Robert joined
Con-way Truckload in 1999 and Joe in 2001. Robert resides in Hidalgo, Texas,
and enjoys reading and watching movies in his free time. When at home in
Cedar Park, Texas, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife and three
children.
• Contractor Driver of the Month: Marvin Peck started his truck driving
career 43 years ago. He started driving with Con-way Truckload in 1984 and,
after some time away, rejoined Con-way Truckload in 2004. He has driven more
than 890,000 miles with the company. Peck resides in Bartlesville, Okla.,
with his fiancée. He has five sons and, when he has free time, he likes to
work on his farm.
• Contractor Team of the Month: James and Frances Doty together have driven
more than 1.7 million miles with Con-way Truckload. James has driven
professionally for 42 years and joined the company in 1998. Frances married
into the profession and joined Con-way Truckload in 2002. At home in Joplin,
Mo., James enjoys hunting and fishing and Frances enjoys playing with her
grandchildren during their time off.
August
• Company Driver of the Month: Andy Sipple began his driving career in 1991
when he joined Con-way Truckload and has driven 2,149,000 miles since then.
He lives in Carrollton, Texas, and enjoys hunting, fishing and other outdoor
activities.
• Company Team of the Month: Oscar Torres and Miguel Barriage joined Con-way
Truckload in 2000. Both residents of El Paso, Miguel lives with his wife and
has three children; Oscar lives with his wife and two children. In their
spare time, they both enjoy spending time with their families.
• Contractor Driver of the Month: Dennis Hastings has been driving
professionally for 13 years. He has driven more than 1.7 million miles since
joining Con-way Truckload as a student in 1995. He lives in Seneca, Mo.,
with his wife. When not on the road, Dennis enjoys hunting, fishing and
training horses.
• Contractor Team of the Month: Isabel and Dulce Aldrette together have
driven more than 1.6 million miles with Con-way Truckload. Isabel joined the
company in 1999 and Dulce in 2001. When at home in El Paso, Isabel enjoys
watching movies and playing video games and Dulce enjoys working out.
September
• Company Driver of the Month: Jose Herrera has driven more than 1.1 million
miles since joining the company as a student in 2001. Jose lives in Laredo,
Texas, with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys spending time off with his
family.
• Company Team of the Month: DeVerne Hunt and Carole Smith have driven more
than 3.7 million miles together since they joined Con-way Truckload in 1992.
DeVerne began his driving career after retiring from the United Stated Air
Force. DeVerne and Carole reside in Joplin, Mo.
• Contractor Driver of the Month: Leroy Sutton began his professional
driving career in 1966 and joined Con-way Truckload in 1982. When at home in
Mountainburg, Ark., he enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife, their
four children and three grandchildren.
• Contractor Team of the Month: Michael and Jennifer Burns have been driving
for more than four years and became a part of the company in 2007. They
reside in Leechburg, Pa., and enjoy spending time with their daughter, other
family and friends.

Driver of the month winners are automatically nominated for Con-way
Truckload's year-end driver of the year awards in their respective
categories. Drivers of the year win a cash prize, commemorative plaque,
wrist watch and custom jacket, and are inducted into the Con-way Truckload
Hall of Fame at the company's headquarters in Joplin, Mo. Full-time
over-the-road drivers who have been certified as Con-way Truckload drivers
for one year are eligible, as long as they are free of moving violations,
accidents and out-of-service violations through state/federal inspections
during the previous 12 months.
