Jerry Clay Completes Lease at Boyd Bros.

    (Reidsville, NC)—Jerry Clay, an owner operator with Boyd Bros. Transportation, recently paid off the four year lease on his 2002 International a year early. “I have to give all the credit to my driver manager. He has kept me above water. I have had very few low paying weeks,” he said. “My International is one of the best trucks in the market. I am happy to have the lease completed.”  
    Clay, who started with Boyd Bros. four years ago, plans to stay with the company a long time. “I have worked for a few other places, but I like it here. Boyd Bros. is a great place. They are on the top of the list when it comes to trucking companies,” he said.
    The transportation industry is something Clay learned about from family. “Nearly all of my family members were truckers, but my uncles are the ones who persuaded me. They wanted me to do something that would pay off and it has,” he said. “My heart has always been in trucking. That’s why I’m still here after 35 years.”
    Married with three children, Clay enjoys spending time with family. When he has free time, you’ll most likely find him on one of his two boats. “I also do a little gardening. I used to do a little of that on the side. I enjoy it a lot,” he said.
    Working as an owner operator, Clay says, can sometimes be uncertain. He adds, “The greatest thing about the transportation industry is that there is work to do if you want it.
