Mercer Transportation Launches Showusyourtruck.com
(Louisville, KY) December 21, 2007–On January 1, 2008, Mercer Transportation will launch an Internet truck show at Showusyourtruck.com. The website, based on an interactive photo gallery, will feature customized “old school” trucks. Participants will be able to submit photos of their trucks, along with a brief description, to be displayed on the website and compete for monthly prizes. Winners will receive gift certificates and trucking gear from the contest’s sponsor, 4 State Trucks, America’s heavy-duty truck parts super store.
The truck show will be open to all truck owners. Contestants will be divided into two categories: Mercer owner operators and “the best of the rest.” Each month, a winner from each category will be chosen and inducted into the winners’ circle. In January 2009, contestants from the winners’ circle will compete for the grand prize drawing.
Showusyourtruck.com will be an original, unique outlet for people to display their trucks and look at other classic, customized trucks. Unlike traditional truck shows, this contest will prove to be more convenient and less time consuming to the owner operator. Brian Helton, Mercer’s director of recruiting explains, “There are a lot of cool trucks out there, but they are working trucks and it is often hard for those guys to shut down their businesses for a few days in order to participate in truck shows. We hope that Showusyourtruck.com will encourage more people to show off their rigs.”
Although the contest structure will be modeled after traditional truck shows, there are currently no similar media outlets that specifically focus on showcasing custom trucks. Visitors to the site will have the ability to upload submissions, view the truck galleries and vote for their favorite submissions.
The contest will focus on classic trucks to evoke nostalgia and pay homage to the trucking industry’s early heritage. Dale Corum, Mercer’s general manager of truck operations says, “To us, the term ‘Old School’ symbolizes a time when a hand shake and a man’s word was all he had. It was a time when hard work and grease under the fingernails was a badge of honor. You were one of America’s last remaining cowboys with a truck that reflected your personality.” Showusyourtruck.com will celebrate the working custom trucks and the people who own and operate them.
