Jessie Moore, of Texas City, Texas has achieved a career milestone -- he has paid off the lease on his 2000 International Eagle with Boyd Bros. Transportation. Moore is now the official owner. He states, “I don’t think I would have tried to buy a truck anywhere else. I have been paying on the lease for four years and I am ecstatic about paying it off.”

    Moore, who has been working at Boyd for more than five years, credits his success to the people employed there. “It is hard for a driver to say that he gets along with his dispatch, but I started with a real good dispatcher -- a truly considerate man. We had our ups and downs, but we got along just fine,” Moore said. “He took me out of some pretty rough times and we weathered some storms, but he was pretty instrumental in helping me. I owe him a lot.”

    Now that he is an owner operator, Moore’s plans are pretty straightforward. He states, “I am going to work, and work, and work. On the weekends, I am going to go home and chill out for a while. I just want to keep driving, keep working and enjoy.”

    He will continue driving for Boyd, a place he describes as a great company.  “I can’t see jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. If I have an issue to discuss with somebody, I know who it is. I just stay here where I know I will survive,” he said. “I have done it so far with no problem and they have been real good to me.”

    Overall, Moore is comedic and loves what he does for a living. When it comes to his loads, turning work into fun is easy for him.  “My load is always covered. I do a good job because I make a game of it,” he said. “Although I have fun, I get my load tarped and I roll on. That’s it. Then, I head out to where I have to be.”

    Moore describes trucking as a fairly independent profession. For him, it has always been that way, ever since he started back in 1978. “You don’t have to worry about anybody messing with you all day. As long as you get your job done, nobody is going to say a word to you,” he said.
