C.R. England reaches milestone

C.R. England recently reached the 1,000th milestone for independent lease contractors, many of whom make their home in rural America. “I love that I live in a small town. and as an independent carrier I can still make a decent living,” says Darren Hel-ler, who drives for C.R. Decker team finishes first

A team of seven drivers representing Decker Truck Line racked up three first-place finishes at the 2005 Iowa Truck Driving Champ-ionships. Dave Bush won the Four-Axle Van Division, Mark Phillips won the Five-Axle Van Division, and the entire Decker Team earned the first-place trophy for Highest Overall Team Points. , See their ad on page 79

Prime buys vans

Prime Inc. will purchase 3,000 refrigerated vans from Wabash National Corporation. The agreement includes an option to ex-pand the total number of units to 5,000 over the next six years. Prime will also purchase Wabash National's ArcticLite trailers. , See their ad on page 6

Maverick names top drivers

NPE names Driver of the Month

NPE named Craig Molitor as its July Driver of the Month. Molitor has been a part of the trucking industry for more than 40 years, the last 16 years with NPE.

 

Trucker Buddy Terry Tartt Humanitarian Award

The recipient of the inaugural Trucker Buddy Terry Tartt Humanitarian Award is Doug Holtzman. Mr. Holtzman, formerly a driver for Walmart, adopted Susan Epple’s class in Houston, TX and corresponded with the students until his sudden death earlier this year.

 

Star Transportation expands fleet

Star Transportation is expanding its fleet after acquiring Camp Transportation. Star will pur-chase the assets of Camp and hire its current drivers. Growth strategy for Star includes targeting additional candidates to purchase.

 

West Side Transport opens new terminal

West Side Transport opened a new terminal in Kingsport, TN that will accommodate West Side’s increased freight lanes in the area, as well as meet the needs of regional drivers looking to run within a 500-mile radius of Knoxville.
