Driven Women
Marriage or Co-Driver
Dear GG—First of all, thanks for your great letters in Pro Trucker and Over The Road. I’m a single woman looking for a driver/partner. I only drove a truck for a short time, but I miss it. I would love to drive as a husband/wife team, but I’m not married.
Several months ago, you mentioned some Web site addresses for folks looking for team driver/partners. Please steer me in the right direction.
Kuntryjean,
Groveland, FL
So Kuntryjean is looking for a husband, co-driver, or one and the same. I’m assuming you have a Class A CDL, and you certainly have the desire, so let the hunt begin. Start with these and if you don’t have any luck, well—let’s not even go there.
• Call a carrier you want to work for, and ask about their training
program. Once you complete your training, find a co-driver
from within the company.
• Call truck driving schools to find graduates looking for co-driv-
ers, and post your info on the job board (“In Search Of…”).
• Post a personal ad on AOL. I believe it’s free to AOL subscribers.
• Match.com will charge you—but since when is it too expensive
to find the man or woman of your dreams?
Saint GG’s opinion Kuntryjean…don’t focus on marriage. Focus on your career first, then on finding a mate. You’ll see why once you get behind the wheel for more than a hundred miles or so.
Enjoy the scenery!
