Schneider boasts Ride of Pride driver 
 
Schneider National, Inc., has been selected by Freightliner to receive the 2008 Ride of Pride honoring United States veterans and soldiers. Gordon Turnovsky from Millington, TN, a driver with Schneider since 1992 and a member of the U.S. Army, will drive the Ride of Pride, which was added to the Schneider fleet of more than 10,000 trucks. The one-of-a-kind Freightliner is fully customized with symbols of America and the Armed Forces decaled over the orange Schneider cab.

Dart announces Contractors of the Month

Dart Transit Company announced the following Contractors of the Month: David Spiers at the Dallas Operating Center and James Tuttle at the Eagan Operating Center. Contractors of the Month are recognized for their on-time performance, dependability, and safety record. Spiers has contracted with Dart for more than 10 years. Tuttle has contracted with Dart since 2001.

FFE launches user-friendly Web site 
       
The Frozen Food Express Industries (FFE) recently launched a new company Web site designed exclusively for easier navigation and improved performance. The site, located at www.ffeinc.com, features an innovative design and an array of artistic images framed in a crisp green and white page layout. From the home page, visitors can easily access the information most pertinent to them.

Con-Way earns CIO 100 Award 
      
Con-way Inc. is a recipient of the 2008 CIO 100 Award that recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. “The CIO 100 honors organizations that have used technology in innovative ways to generate value to the business,” says Abbie Lundberg, editor in chief of CIO magazine. 

 

Minnesota driver receives national safety award

Veteran truck driver Jerry Van Emmerik is America’s safest truck driver according to the TLC Companies, Brooklyn Center, MN. Van Emmerik, who works for family owned and operated Lake Valley Trucking, Inc. of Wheat-on, MN, received grand prize honors and a check for $12,500. He earned the award in the annual 2007-2008 Safety Top Dog program, sponsored by The TLC Companies.

 

LinkAmerica to purchase Freightliner tractors
        
LinkAmerica Corporation announced that it has agreed to purchase 150 new tractors from Freightliner. “In addition to providing additional capacity, this new equipment aids our commitment to reliable on-time service for our customers and also benefits our drivers,” says Roger Collins, LinkAmerica’s chairman.

 
TOPS on the roll in Kansas  
      
The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Trucks on Patrol for Safety (TOPS) program is rolling across highways in the state. TOPS, pairing commercial vehicle companies and drivers with the Patrol and supported by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), is aimed at reducing injuries and deaths related to large truck crashes on Kansas’ roadways.
