Dart announces Contractors of the Month
Dart Transit Company announces its November 2007 Contractors of the Month: Gilbert Rodriguez at the Dallas Operating Center and Harry Shaw at the Eagan Operating Center. Contractors of the Month are recognized for their on-time performance, dependability, and safety record. Rodriguez has been in the trucking industry 21 years and has contracted with Dart since May 2007. Shaw has contracted with Dart for 14 years.

Landstar honors safe drivers
Landstar System recognized 116 men and women for their outstanding safety records and professionalism behind the wheel. The business capacity owners (BCOs) were honored as Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers at a recent awards banquet in Jacksonville. Collectively, the 116 BCOs have safely driven a total of 126 million miles—a distance that would cover the 4 million miles of public roads in the United States nearly 32 times.

Maverick names Driver of the Year
Maverick Transportation named Doug Herd of Marionville, MO as its 2007 Driver of the Year. Herd, a truck driver for 12 years, has been with Maverick for more than three years. Herd was recognized for his combination of safe driving, positive attitude and willingness to go above what is asked.

Crittenden Memorial Award honors Haight
The Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) presented the 10th annual Lee J. Crittenden Memorial Award to Ray Haight, executive director of MacKinnon Transport, Inc., of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The award is given to the person who has done the most to advance the ideals and goals of PTDI. Haight is the outgoing chairman of PTDI.
Past Chairman’s Award presented to Jenkins
The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) presented its Past Chairman’s Award posthumously to Richard “Buck” Jenkins, co-owner of Diamond Transportation System, Inc., Racine, WI. The award recognizes industry leaders who make a significant contribution to the business community, the industry and TCA. Jenkins was a TCA member for 36 years.
Panther sees year of opportunity
