Landstar names Employees of the Year
Landstar System named Stacy Carver and Adrienne Herndon as its Employees of the Year for 2007. Carver is a supervisor in the Cash Applications department at the company’s Rockford, IL service center. The Jacksonville, FL service center's Employee of the Year, Herndon is a training facilitator in the Training and Development department.

Prime acquires TRL assets
Prime Inc. acquired specific assets and the trucking operations of Transcontinental Refrigerated Lines in Pittston, PA. The TRL freight network will operate as a division of Prime Inc. “This is a promising opportunity for us in a region of the country that complements our freight network and driver base,” states Prime President and CEO Robert Low. The Pittston facility will function as Prime’s East Coast Customer Service Center.

2008 Trucker Buddy calendar available
The 2008 Trucker Buddy calendar, sponsored by Kenworth Truck Company, is now available. The calendar features drawings submitted by children in the Trucker Buddy program and Kenworth’s new truck models. Each year, hundreds of students submit drawings of safety messages their Trucker Buddies have taught them, and 12 entries are selected from the submissions. Maverick Specialized announces pay raise
Maverick announced a pay raise for drivers in its over-the-road glass fleet. Maverick Specialized will implement a 4-cents per mile pay raise across the board to drivers in the division, bringing pay to 45 cents per mile for experienced drivers and 41 cents for drivers in the student program.

Mercer announces NASCAR sweepstakes winner
Mercer Transportation announced that Jackie Walden of Decatur, AL was the winner of the Drive to Win NASCAR sweepstakes. Walden won a deluxe travel package for two to the 50th Anniversary Daytona 500, including re-served tickets in the Nextel tower for the qualifying races, truck series race, Nationwide Series race and the 50th running of the Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
Germak, Voie named to TFC Board
Transport For Christ, International (TFC), a Christian ministry dedicated to the wellness of truck drivers, welcomed Jim Germak and Ellen Voie to its International Board of Directors. Germak is president and general manager of Jagtrux, a trucking company based in Marietta, PA. Voie is chairwoman of Women in Trucking, an advocacy group for women in the trucking industry.
