Make ‘Healthy Trucking’ your New Year’s resolution

Once upon a time, we were all young and invincible. We could indulge our bad habits and get away with it because, well, young, strong bodies can take it. We heaped all sorts of abuse on them and darn if they didn’t bounce back the next day—seemingly as good as new—ready for more.
Alas, as we grow older, our bodies change. They don’t handle abuse like they used to. They don’t bounce back the next day, and if you don’t take good care of them, they start to break down as the aches, pains and pounds pile up.
The start of a new year is the perfect time to “do your body some good.” If you’ve been reading Over the Road and Pro Trucker, you know we’ve been pushing a concept called the Healthy Trucking Initiative. We recognized that the collective health of the nation’s truck drivers is bad and it’s time to do something good about it. So we have, from sponsoring Healthy Trucking BP (blood pressure) kiosks at truck stops to publishing informative health articles in Over the Road and Pro Trucker.
Many of you have jumped on the health bandwagon, lost some weight, quit smoking and/or lowered your blood pressure. Congratulations. For the rest of you, there’s no time like today to start getting healthier.
